The seminar focuses on a new approach to English language teaching
(ELT), called Global Englishes Language Teaching. This new approach to
ELT questions native-speaker competence as the goal of ELT, aims to
include a wider range of Englishes and ELF in ELT, focuses on
contextualized communicative competences, and addresses the politics of
teaching English. After addressing these theoretical foundations,
students will analyze curricula, schoolbooks, alternative teaching
materials, ELT websites, and survey data. All texts, ppts, and further
materials will be made available via moodle.
