The goal of this seminar is to introduce students to general and some specific debates surrounding the international political economy of globalization. The seminar first discusses the history and definition of the major concepts in the globalization debate, such as trade interdependence, global governance, transnationalism, globalization vs. the global condition, and the periodization of globalization. Thereafter, students will engage and discuss some specific topics in the globalization debate, such as international development, international migration, and the globalization of democracy.
