This course will allow students to read, hear, and see how indigenous women in North America - artists, musicians, writers, activists - reflect on their experiences of living in the USA and Canada. Their cultural and political expressions will help students to gain insight into their often marginalized lives, but also promote an understanding and appreciation of the power and importance of their views on art, literature and politics in a contemporary context.
