Why do humans tell stories? And why does storytelling matter in a teaching context? Potential answers to these questions involve some philosophical contemplation of emotions, ethics, and even evolution, but also some practical results: stories help us to remember, to understand, and to appreciate facts, conflicts, worlds, and ultimately, our lives. Storytelling moreover enlarges your options as teachers and offers a lot of scope for drawing on students' imagination as well as analytical skills in the classroom.
