The internet has become the new reality for many younger generations in the western world. (Moving) images are flashing with increased speed and decreasing duration before our eyes as an almost universially agreed upon procedure of the everyday.
But is the vast amount of audiovisual content we are seeing and consuming everyday within the digital sphere of any educative value? And if there is, how can we catalyse this value and bring it into the spotlight of teaching contexts? In what ways, then, can we harness the language learning potentials mediate length and micro videos? What types of videos exist online (e.g. viral videos, reels, commercials, vlogs, video essays, breaking news,...,) what tools can aid us in using videos for teaching purposes, what about the raised aspect of collaboration and interactivity of internet videos and how to produce specific videos yourself?
Attention!
This seminar will have you work together in tandem with a student from the other seminar "Film Didactics in ELT" as
you both prepare one lesson sequence project for the module exam
(Prüfungsleistung: term paper - incl. lesson sequence project). It is
recommended that you already look for a tandem partner. THE FIRST
SEMINAR MEETING (17/10/23) WILL BE HELD TOGETHER WITH THE OTHER COURSE
PHYSICALLY! There we will be setting the tandem partners and talk about
organizational information.
