The 2024 Campus protests once again drew attention to various forms of students activism, forcing presidential candidate to rethink his policies with Israel, and earning criticism and irony from pundits and comedians alike over students' assumed naivity. Parallels were drawn to the Free Speech and the anti-Vietnam War movement of the 1960s.

This course aims to offer a critical view of American campuses, their students, staff and their varied issues as a way of studying contemporary social and political issues in the USA, predominantly presented through the historical movie "eye", from the acclaimed "Strawberry Statement" (1970) to the recent Academy Award "The Holdovers" (2024) and gain an insight of how colleges are social microcosms, in the USA as well as at your home university.
