During the Pandemic, natural sciences and their application, such as in public decisions over lockdowns and wearing masks, became front and center of the so-called Culture Wars in  the USA. With changing vaccinations schedules, food pyramids reversed and climate change contested under the new Trump Administration, it seems as if specific scientific views are losing ground in American culture and politics or are replaced by other scientific theories or claims.

While a majority of scientists may claim that their fields of expertise are politically neutral, in reality -- and history - this seems/~ed impossible. This course in Cultural Studies USA will examine historical and contemporary examples (such as the impact of evolutionism on American education, the development of nuclear bombs, and the Pandemic) to expand our understanding of how science, politics, and culture interact in the USA.
