The 1960s are SOOO yesterday.
Not.
Protest marches against police violence, "race riots", debates about abortion rights and the legalization of psychedelic drugs, environmentalists trying out alternative life styles, music as activism, and calls for the return to a more conservative American society. This is the 2020s AND the 1960s.
On the edge of nuclear extinction, a new (i.e. young) generation began to challenge their parents' generation as well as established American values and institutions, first peacefully, then increasingly ready to use militant tactics. Their ideas and happenings deserve a closer examination as they may offer insights as to how the "Boomers" responded to problems "Millennials" and "Gen Zs" face today.
Let's revive the spirit of the Sixties in the USA. Let's discover the creative ideas that were used to confront the inherent social problems in the USA and find out if they still deserve our attention. No old fashioned nostalgia, but a critical (and fun) exploration of the words and deeds (and music) that inspired the next generations and cultures across the globe.
