4006071: Gender and Power in the Nordic Middle Ages: Theoretical Perspectives

Mi 10-12 Uhr, SR 3.06, Domstraße 9a, Prof. Dr. Cordelia Heß

Do nuns have a gender, and is heterosexuality necessary for becoming a king? Accompanying the lecture “Gender and Power in the Nordic Middle Ages”, the seminar will focus on theory and method of pre-modern gender studies: which forms of power and which concepts of gender exist, and which theoretical concept are suitable for their analysis? Which sources do we have for these phenomena? The seminar requires reading abilities in English, and there will be opportunities to practice scholarly discussions in English as well. If necessary, one or two guest lectures will focus on writing academic English.
