Nature Ethics

This course offers a systematic introduction to the philosophical issues underlying environmental controversies. Students will learn about the main positions in environmental ethics as well as basic concepts of philosophical ethics. Furthermore, students will be introduced to distinct philosophical debates, issues and problems in the field of environmental ethics that are dealing, among other things, with climate change, the moral consideration of animals, ecofeminism and wilderness ethics. This course is an equal alternative to Professor Gorke's German-language lecture, „Naturethik“. However, this course format will be primarily a text based seminar.
