Students will learn the principles of genetics and techniques/tools used to study various aspects of populations/species, including behaviour, ecology and evolution, information that are important for the protection of species and their management. The course will detail the strength but also the limits of different genetic methods, with particular attention paid to adapting the techniques/tools to the questions being addressed. The course will be focused on conservation hence will include numerous case study examples across animals and plants.
